Supernova 2005U in NGC 3690

sn05u_i.jpg Discovered by the Nuclear Supernova Search. The SN is very difficult to seperate from the parent galaxy.   This is the 5th E. Prosperi supernova found in this galaxy in the past 13 years.   Interacting galaxy NGC 3690 is part of (or all of) Arp 299 which also includes IC 694.   We have a DSS Photometry reference image made by Odd Trondal.  Icon generated from the discovery image.   This supernova is in the Constellation Bootes.
