supernovae 2006dd and
2006mr in
NGC 1316.

2006dd was
discovered by Berto Monard (South Africa).
This one is a type Ia found very young in a somewhat southern galaxy.
It started out as a type II, but an actual spectrum showed as a type Ia.
The other two supernovae discovered in this galaxy were also of type Ia,
were also in the Mag 12.0 range.
Note that this one is fairly close to the nucleus of he host galaxy.

This supernova is in the
Constellation Fornax.
Berto wasn't done with this galaxy. In November of 2006 he discovered
another supernova, 2006mr.
This one is deeply reddened, and is most likely on the far side of the galaxy.
